The Insulation Trap (and how to get out of it)
Nobody ever explained this to you: in summer, your problem isn't the sun. It's that your polo is designed to hold heat in. The usual fabrics (cotton piqué, cheap polyester) are thermal insulators: they trap a layer of hot air against your skin, and cotton also soaks up sweat and holds it in the fiber.
